When the new Science range arrived at Bodyboard-Depot we were pretty blown away with the quality of them. It's definitely the best range that we've seen from Mike Stewart and the Science team.
Bodyboard-Depot team rider and the man behind Science's hottest signature model, Damian Prisk answered a few questions about his sick new stick.
Your boards look sick again, how did you come up with the template?
After riding for about two decades and working with Science and Dan Sivess for the past 7 years it's enabled me to create the template that I ride today. I've changed a few of the sizes of the board this year which again has improved the template.
What style of rider will this template suit?
Anybody who wants to go fast, boost and surf technically in the pocket with as little effort as possible will suit this board.
What about the materials?
I've only recently started to ride my board with a 3D core, it's not a gimmick, the cores work so good in all water temps from home, to the canaries and the tropics. Definitely a core that will be in the boot of my car and my travel board bag from now on. I find 3D offers the benefits associated with PE such as projection and being forgiving on those big landings, mixed with the pop and longevity of a PP core.
How does the template work for you?
The board is an obedient ride always doing what I tell it. When I want to turn up the face or scoop down the line the board will always obey with lightening speed, basically the board makes what I want to do that much easier.
Why go for a bat tail?
Bat tails seem to offer everything I want out of a board...speed, it's gret for all moves, excellent holding capabilities when scooping late into stabbing waves, everyone that tries them has loved them. The template works great with a bat tail. Especially for UK waves.
What is your favourite colour scheme?
I'm not sure I have a favourite (at the moment it would be my 2012 colours for sure). However I'm already thinking about next years colour ways!
How's your winter been so far?
Winters been good, I'm currently in Central America chasing an elusive swell up and down the the coast between two countries. Hopefully I'll manage to score it before the long journey home... Fingers crossed as time is ticking...
So you won the BBC Auto Sleepers Tour last year, are you 6 or 7 time British champ now, it seems like nobody is sure?!
6x British champ (I think?). For the past three years I've placed second at the individual British nationals event at Porthtowan which sucks a little! But Yeah I won the National tour in 2011 and I'll be competing to win it again this year, I'm really looking forward to it.
He's dominated the sport in the UK for the last 10 years and come up with the best signature board ever released by a UK rider, we're proud to have him on the team!
